Looking For Roofing?

About Shingle Express, Inc.

At Shingle Express, we believe that there is only one way to install a roof ? the right way. Yes, this sounds cliché, but the truth is, most Wilmington roofers do not follow the manufacturer?s instructions. Those roofers, with decades of experience, learn to roof by watching roofers, who learned by watching other roofers. And, most of these Newark roofers do it incorrectly! The Shingle Express manager works with every new roofer, retraining them as needed, and correcting their errors before those errors end up on your roof. We read the manufacturers' literature, visit their websites and watch their training videos. We constantly search for new products and new methods for keeping your home water tight and looking right. Other roofers: "I was working on a new roof in Bear, DE. Across the street, a well-known company had sold the neighbor a roof. The delivery truck pulled up and dropped a pallet of shingles on the driveway. I had never heard of this brand of shingles before. Not surprising, a sub contractor crew arrived, and started to strip the roof. They didn?t even remove the old roofing felt. They didn?t repair or renail the deck. They didn?t use starter strip up the sides of the roof. The neighbor got a roof that looked nice, but he did not get a good job. And, he paid more!" Michael Glackin, Shingle Express, 2011 Materials: Shingle Express uses the materials of your choice, but we always recommend G.A.F/Timberline or Owens Corning Duration shingles for our New Castle roofing jobs. These shingles offer a limited lifetime warranty, but there is another reason for using them. Both companies have been in business for years. "We?ve been working with homeowners in Pennsylvania with roof problems. Twelve year old roofs are falling apart, because the builder used Celotex shingles. Celotex is bankrupt, and the company has been sold. The home owners are stuck with defective shingles. With a huge, well known company, like G.A.F and Owens Corning, your chance of being stuck in twelve years is insignificant. At Shingle Express, we do not use second rate materials." Tyler McBride, Shingle Express Repair Foreman, 2011 Installation: "Shingle Express was called to repair a three year old house in Newark. There was nothing wrong with the material ? it was a Tamko Heritage 30 year shingle. The problem was the installation. Shingles were blowing off of the roof! The nails were set at angles, without the proper spacing, and some were driven too low and some were set too high. And then, the shingles were not spaced properly. From the ground, a professional roof could tell that this was a sloppy job, but it looked okay to the homeowner. " Michael Glackin, Shingle Express, 2011 At Shingle Express, we take pride is setting each shingle and each nail. We snap control lines to ensure that your roof looks good, and that it is installed properly. Be warned: Any roof looks good when the crew leaves the job. However, the only roof that is worth the money is a quality roof installed correctly. Service Area: While Shingle Express gets calls from all over Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland, we are regional. We only service homes within our driving range because we do not subcontract work. The only way to maintain quality is to use our own trained staff, under close supervision. We cannot accept jobs that are two hours from either of our two regional offices for that reason. Here is a partial list of areas that we serve:
