1. Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

This museum is home to thousands of art objects dating from as far back as ancient Egypt and including work through the contemporary period. The large sculpture garden is not to be missed.

2. National World War I Museum

This museum is part of the Liberty Memorial. There are a number of artifacts and weapons in the museum including an early version of a tank.

3. The Kansas City Zoo

This zoo is home to a variety of animals including polar bears, penguins, tigers and elephants. It is very easy to spend the entire day here. Sections of the zoo are devoted to animals from all the world's continents.

The Worlds of Fun amusement park is home to fast moving roller coasters as well as many other rides. There are a variety of entertainment programs held throughout the day in the park.

5. Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art

The Kemper Museum has ever changing exhibitions of the best modern art from around the nation.

6. The Country Club Plaza

This is the premier shopping district in Kansas City. The area is noted for its Spanish architecture and its annual Christmas lighting ceremony.

7. Thomas Hart Benton Home

Thomas Hart Benton made his home in the city, and it is now a museum along with his studio. See the place where art masterpieces were created.

8. Science City

This educational destination is housed in the historic Union Station. Presentations change throughout the year.

9. Negro Leagues Baseball Hall of Fame

The Kansas City Monarchs were one of the best baseball teams in the league. Their memorabilia, along with that of other league teams, is on display here.

10. American Jazz Museum

Kansas City was known for jazz when Charlie Parker played in local clubs. This museum has numerous displays about great musicians of the past and present.
