In 1987 Hayward Long opened the front doors to Simply Wood Furnishings for the first time. Boy, were we small. One self-taught furniture-maker with a few tools, a good idea, and an honest approach to doing business, I guess it just goes to show that hard work and old-fashioned service do pay off. Here we are, not too many years later, offering Ottawa’s largest selection of unpainted furniture. We’ve a few new faces, a few new tools, and a lot more space but our success still boils down to the basic concept of providing great value and honest service at affordable prices. Back in ’87 our small showroom was crowded with dozens of Dad’s own designs, furniture with clean simple lines for every room of the house, each piece constructed by the very same fellow who stepped out from the workshop around back. These days you’ve a much larger array to choose from. We offer a varied selection of both finished and unfinished items from some great Canadian companies as well as our own Simply Wood Exclusives, still made around back by the same folks who greet you at the door.
