About Mutchmor Lodge/Hewitt Place
Mutchmor Lodge and Hewitt Place were built by The United Church Housing Corporation of Regina in the early 60's to provide affordable living accommodation for seniors. Mutchmor Lodge is named after the two United Church of Canada ministers who founded the United Housing corporation; Reverends Harry and James Mutchmor. Eight United Churches sponsored the purchase of the land to build a 48 bed hostel for seniors that opened in may 1961. The Corporation was established as a non-profit organization charity. Due to an increase in the need for independent senior housing demands, the Hewitt place housing apartments were added to the facility in 1963. In the mid 90's legislation in health changed. In cooperation with the Regina Health District, Mutchmor Lodge was designated as an assisted living facility. The facilities were renovated to accommodate the changing needs of the seniors and were reopened with renovated suites including half bath as well as small one bedrooms suites with showers.
