I’d first like to stat that I have never written a review like this before, but I think it’s important to warn other parents about Alpha’s Bilingual Day Care. I have a daughter and she is 2 years old. She has been in day care since she was 12 months at an amazing day care in Scarborough and I have never had one issue. I recently moved to Oshawa and was vigilantly searching for care. Sonia from Alpha’s Bilingual called me and I went for a walk through with my daughter. She stated the day care is newly opened since November 2022. It did not appear as organized as the day care my daughter was at previously, i.e. not as many play centres, not many toys, all children were outside so we could not observe any class room activities. I wanted to give the centre the benefit of the doubt even though I didn’t have a great feeling. Sonia then stated to secure my spot I had to Interac e-transfer FIRST & LAST month 548.98 + 548.99 = 1097.96 PLUS a “non-refundable” 100 fee totalling 1197.96 with a ONE YEAR agreement. Sonia provided me the wrong e-mail 3 times and I should’ve taken that as a sign and moved on but I sent the money to finally the right address. I brought my daughter Sept 1st, my daughter was understandably reluctant and crying but the staff seemed to comfort her so we left. 3 days after her father and I both dropping her & picking her up, her father was asked for ID after meeting this staff previously on day 1 drop off as we both went. My daughter was crying and trying to get to her dad but he had leave the centre to grad his ID and come back, this situation made my daughter even more reluctant to go. I dropped her off Thursday morning and the staff greeted my crying daughter with stating “Oh it’s going to be one of those mornings is it?” I was shocked, but again, reluctantly left hoping the day would be better thereafter. Upon picking my daughter up that day a staff named Cheryl came to speak with me. I voiced my concerns of walking in to pick up my child and I see no toys, no play centres, just 10 kids running around without any structure. Cheryl stated she comes from the Toronto board and she understands how much more structured Toronto centres are and she understands my concerns but to please give her a chance to improve the class. She pleaded to give the centre a chance. I again reluctantly agreed. This is where my frustration absolutely grew. I picked my daughter up on Friday afternoon, after only being in their care for 4 days. She had 2 small but deep scratches on her nose. I asked Cheryl what happened, she stated my daughter did it to herself with a hang nail but she took care of it, I reluctantly said okay and took my daughter to the car. I then noticed ANOTHER scratch on her cheek, I ran inside yelled for the “supervisor” Sonia and she said she’ll ask Cheryl. Cheryl then wrote a note stating she told me my daughter did it to herself and not to leave the centre again without saying something. My daughter’s nails were cut 3 days prior and she did NOT have any type of jagged nail. I am in the child care field, I understand things happen but to blame my child when she has NEVER come home from her previous day care with scratches is unsettling. I emailed Friday evening of my concerns including pictures, Monday at 11:30 am Sonia still did not answer. I asked for ONLY my last months rent back and what happened to my child, she stated a “director” will call me. ONLY TO FIND OUT SONIA OWNS THE DAY CARE AND THERE IS NO ONE HIGHER THAN HER! I found this out after filing a complaint with the ministry of Ontario. Sonia is offering mediocre care at best, posing as a supervisor when she owns it and runs it privately. She has screened all our calls and I am now out of almost $1200 for 4 days of care. She still has not told me what happened to my child when there cameras EVERYWHERE, offered any resolution or a refund of money that is not hers. Parents be warned, if I knew what I now know, I would NEVER leave my child in the hands of Alpha’s Bilingual.
